First Communion Sunday

Parents of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders,

We are lowering the age/grade level for students to learn about and receive their 1st communion from 4th graders down to 2nd grade. This means that children in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade are eligible to learn about and receive their first communion.

There are a couple of things to know as Calvary continues its effort to partner with parents who are the primary influence on their children's faith.

1. First communion instruction will be home-based. We will be providing you with easy to do at-home instruction materials (5 lessons) to go through with your first communion student during the 6 weeks of Lent.
2. It is up to you to determine if your child is ready to receive their first communion. The at-home materials will help you do that and we will help you as well. This also means that if you don't think your child is ready this year (even after going through the at-home material) that's OK. You can always reassess next year.
