What to know about 20201 VBS at Calvary

We're excited to offer VBS in person this summer. But it will come with some changes.

  • Our registration will be limited to 50 participants (16 preschoolers and 34 elementary-aged students).

  • Preschool participants (3 & 4-year-olds) must be 3 before the start of VBS and must be potty trained. Participants who turn five before VBS but have not completed kindergarten will be part of the preschool program.

  • Notice, also, that VBS this year is from 9 AM to 12 PM instead of its usual 9 AM to 2 PM.

  • The cost is $20 per child. For that, your child will receive a t-shirt, numerous crafts to take home, and a CD with all the VBS music on it (1 per household).

  • We will make use of some larger indoor spaces, such as our Sanctuary, but large parts of VBS will take place outside under tents. Still, please send your child(ren) with sunscreen on.

  • VBS also includes snack time, parents will need to send along a snack each day.

  • Be sure to also send along a water bottle to help your child(ren) stay hydrated.

Masks & Other Safety Measures

  • Large parts of VBS will happen outside this year. We ask that participants wear masks (even preschoolers) at all times even outside, the exception being when they eat their snack which will also happen outside.

    • We recognize that the CDC has recently eased its mask recommendation for outdoor activity, however that mainly applies to solo activity or activity for people from the same household. VBS participants don't meet that part of the recommendation.

    • While we will work to help participants maintain distance from each other, in some instances they will not be able to do so. Wearing their mask, even outdoors, will help ensure a safe environment for those moments.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available and used often in addition to hand washing.

  • We will also limit, as much as is reasonable, the sharing of supplies between participants.

  • Parents are asked to do the at-home symptom checklist developed by Waukesha County for parents to use before sending their children to school.
